This past week, second graders have been learning about what life was like for the Pilgrims on their Mayflower voyage. In connection with our social studies unit The Founding Families, students have been reading articles, creating diagrams of the Mayflower, learning new vocabulary words, and creating a map of the Mayflower voyage. We have learned that life on the Mayflower was not ideal; with horrible sleeping conditions, little food, and no bathroom! Our class tried to fit into a large square that represented how much space one family would have on the Mayflower. Needless to say, they were not comfortable!
