Quadrilaterals! #resvt

Second graders have been working on their geometry unit. Students have been investigating 2D and 3D shapes, sorting shapes by number of sides and vertices, and learning about attributes. Today kids learned about quadrilaterals which is a four sided figure with four right angles. Check out how students sorted their shapes into quadrilaterals and non quadrilaterals!

Keeping Rooms! #resvt

Second graders are in the midst of learning about life during Pilgrim times. We have been learning about their homes and how they were different than our homes today. Students are creating keeping room trioramas and including all the essential parts of Pilgrim living. Ask your student what they added to their keeping rooms.

RES Second Graders are Comparing Cultures with Students in Hong Kong

This is a guest post from our school library media specialist, Beth Redford.

As part of their "Comparing Cultures" Unit, RES second graders have started connecting with a classroom in Hong Kong! They are looking forward to exchanging questions and answers about Chinese and American culture. So far they have shared class pictures and a little bit about our school and play areas. The class in Hong Kong is a Year Three class (the same age as second graders). They attend the Renaissance College school, an international school for students ages 5 to 19. Here's a link to their school website:

Chromebooks! #resvt

We have started using our Chromebooks! Second graders went over expectations, modeled the expectations, and logged on! Students are VERY excited to be using these for reading, math, typing practice and exploring our science and social studies units. Ask your child what they chose for their login picture!
