Snow painting with our little buddies! #resvt

Today second graders met up with their preschool buddies to do some painting! They got to use a special kind of winter paint that looked like snow. Paint was made out of shaving cream, Elmer's glue and glitter. Students made snowmen, blizzards, thunderstorms, and snow families! It was great fun! Students also got a special popcorn and hot cocoa treat! We love spending time together and developing relationships across grade levels!

Second Grade Moments

During math, we have been completing number talks. A serious of equations that students discover the answer and strategies for. Today during indoor recess, this student was playing school and chose to teach her class with a number talk. Teaching matters.

Vibration Stations! #resvt

As part of our science unit on sound, students are exploring how different sounds are produced. We learned that sounds are produced by vibrations (to move something back and forth rapidly). Students got to experiment with vibrations during four different stations: glitter dancing, vibrations in water, balloon vibrations, and vibrations with ping-pong balls. Students experimented and recorded their observations! Ask your student what their favorite station was!

Learning from 3rd graders! #resvt

Yesterday we were lucky to be introduced to mystery books from our third grade friends in Mrs. Ayer's class! Third graders had been reading and learning about mystery books. They introduced the book "The Mystery of King Karfu" by Doug Cushman, students learned about suspects, red herring clues, and motives. We made our predictions based on the clues and had to decode the message on the stone chicken. We had a great time and thank you to Mrs. Ayer's third graders for teaching us about mystery books!

Winter Gear Reminder! #resvt

Now that we finally have some snow, please remember to have your second grader bring snow pants, a warm coat, hats, mitten/gloves, and boots! These should be labeled with your child's name. We go outside for recess every day, weather permitting! Thank you and let it snow!
