On Friday, April 18th, second graders shared their informational books about Mexico with family and friends. Students learned about non-fiction text features and incorporated them into their writing. Some examples were: fun facts, headings, diagrams, labels, topic sentences and a wrap up sentence. All second graders were very proud of their writing and excited to share three Spanish songs with their audience!

Tools to change energy zones #resvt #cesuvt
Last week, scholars in Ms. Darling's class were introduced to a variety of tools that help change energy levels. Students learned in a previous class about the different energy zones: blue (too slow), green (just right), yellow (too high), and red (danger brain). As a class, we learned that our energy and body need to be in the green zone of energy to be able to learn. Mrs. T introduced us to tools that we have available to move up to the green zone or down to the green zone. Some of the tools we tried out were: t-stools, squeeze balls, weighted pillows, bubble seats, glitter jars, exercise bands, and loom rubber bands. In the coming week scholars will decide which tools help them specifically and we will have those available in the classroom.
